Becka Wilson-Selders

Founder &
Artistic Director

Professional Journey

Becka has been immersed in theatre since her early childhood, growing up with summers spent dedicated to the Beatrice Children's Theatre and with the Beatrice Community Players. There she developed a lifelong passion for storytelling, collaboration, and arts education. Since then, she has built a career dedicated to creating meaningful experiences for children both on and off the stage.

Becka is a graduate of Doane University ('12), where she gained experience in nearly all facets of theatre. She received awards including Outstanding Costume Crew Member, Best Composer & Musical Director, and was a proud member of Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Honor Society. She served as Management Director of Panthera Productions (the student-directed arm of Doane Theatre), wrote & arranged several musicals, and was selected to direct at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Ten-Minute Play Festival.

Following graduation, Becka joined Youth Actors Academy of Lincoln (YAAL), where she served as an instructor, director, music director, and designer. She directed productions including Cinderella, James and the Giant Peach, and The Pirates of Penzance, developed after-school theatre programs for four Lincoln elementary schools, and created curriculum and workshops in musical theatre, storytelling, costuming, and literacy. After her time with YAAL she has also worked as a freelance teaching artist creating workshops for local theatres and currently teaches Musical Theatre Dance for students ages eight through adult at Starstruck Dance Academy.

Outside the theatre, Becka is a passionate advocate for literacy and community engagement. As BookTokBeckaReads, she has built a loyal online following and founded the Corn-Fed & Well-Read Book Club, an inclusive community of more than 250 readers. She also serves her community through volunteer leadership, including multiple terms on her sorority alumni board and as a Girl Scout leader.

Whether directing a production, teaching a class, or organizing a community event, Becka is committed to creating welcoming spaces where creativity, confidence, and connection can thrive. She is also the proud mom of an incredible six-year-old daughter, whose curiosity and imagination continue to inspire her work every day.

Her Mentorship & Impact

Empowering Young Performers

"Both my daughters have worked with Becka this past year and have grown in their love and appreciation for theatre. She has a unique way of connecting everyone to musical theatre and allowing everyone to fully immerse themselves and be included."
